Alex Eaton
Federal Attorney
Mr. Eaton represents clients in civil white-collar matters, often in cases with a collateral criminal action. His practice consists of defending health care providers in False Claims Act and qui tam matters, counseling white-collar professionals in licensure and disciplinary issues, the representation of college and graduate students facing academic and/or disciplinary sanctions, as well as general business litigation.
He began his career at a large law firm representing white collar professionals and law enforcement personnel in internal investigations and civil rights litigation. He has represented attorneys, police officers, corrections officers, and municipal officials at every stage of litigation, from an accusation warranting internal interview to defending federal civil rights claims. In addition to white collar and student defense, Mr. Eaton has secured victories for clients in matters concerning land use, personal injury, and general business litigation. His broad background in high-stakes litigation, with an overarching focus on professional matters, positions Mr. Eaton as an aggressive and versatile litigator.
Mr. Eaton has also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Erie and Orleans County, New York. As a prosecutor, Mr. Eaton further developed his courtroom presence while managing several courts and prosecuting crimes ranging from homicides and sex crimes to violation-level offenses.
Mr. Eaton earned his juris doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law. In law school, he won the intraschool mock trial tournament and earned awards for academic achievement in the areas of deposition practice and legal ethics. Throughout law school, Mr. Eaton worked for both prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, learning the importance of seeing a case from all sides early in his legal career.
He lives in Buffalo, New York with his wife and daughter. Outside of the law, Mr. Eaton is a devoted marathon runner, avid reader, and jam band enthusiast.
